What is in a tear? In Science, tears are drops of salty liquid that is secreted by the lachrymal gland in the eye to lubricate eye surface and wash away irritants. In human emotion, tears come out when one experiences great feelings, whether it be happy, sad or angry. Why else would they be called happy tears, when you're celebrating an achievement, crying when your heart is breaking and angry tears after a fight? Science can tell us what composes a tear, but cannot explain how we feel our own tears.
